Weight Loss Surgery Houston, Texas

and Other States

Weight loss surgery in Houston is big business and doctors are prepared to pay big dollars in advertising to get patients.

But what's so special about weight loss surgery in Houston?

Check out these statistics:

In Texas, 64% of adults are overweight or obese and that's expected to increase to 75% by 2040.

But that does not place Texas in the number one position for obesity, in fact Texas only ranks a modest 6th.

The following are the top ten states in the US for obesity:

10 top candidate states for weight loss surgery
(Measured in percentage of adult population that is obsese)
Mississippi - 28.1%
Alabama – 27.7% - accelerating the fastest
West Virginia – 27.6%
Louisiana – 25.8%
Tennessee – 25.6%
Michigan, Texas, Kentucky – 25.3%
Indiana – 25.3%
South Carolina – 25.1%

6 least-likely candidate states for weight loss surgery
Colorado has the least – 16.4% (about 1 in 6)
Massachusetts
Rhode Island
Connecticut
Vermont
Montana
Utah
New Hampshire

The list of slimmest states has only 6 listed because in all 50 states, only 6 have an adult obesity rate less than 20%.

Throughout the developing world obesity is a growing problem and weight loss surgery (not just in Houston, Texas) is a booming industry, but few countries compare to the US.

In the UK for example, only 17% of men and 21% of women are obese! This is a major difference considering we are very similar cultures.

Our excesses have finally caught up with us here in the US and now we are paying for it. I wish I could 'un-eat' the mountains of junk food I've eaten since I was a kid but it can't be done.

Weight loss surgery is the final frontier for me and thousands of other obese adults in America...

...but our young people still have a chance.

Let's be sure they are educated about eating and are nourished in ways that lead to slim healthy adults --> it's a message that was never told to me, by my family or the school system.

Not laying any blame because obesity was not an epidemic nor was it understood when I was young. However, nowadays we know the causes, the consequences and the cost!
